Una triste storia che fa riflettere sui bisogni che ha questo Distretto e sulle nostre limitate capacità di supplenza…
… oggi sono stato consultato dall’ufficiale dei bambini per salvare un bambino che era stato abbandonato da madre e padre. Il bambino è di Sololo e vive con la nonna.L’ufficiale dei bambini riferisce che ha ferito la nonna ed è stato arrestato e portato in tribunale a Moyale. Il tribunale ha stabilito che deve essere ricoverato in un “centro di soccorso”. Ma per il fatto che esiste nessun centro nel distretto, ci hanno chiesto di accogliere il bambino fino a quando non avranno riconciliato la madre, il padre e il bambino. Ho accettato e il bambino è stato portato al nostro villaggio dalla polizia questa sera. Il bambino si chiama D.A. maschio di 12 anni residente in Sololo Ramata.
Proveremo a cercare il villaggio esatto da cui proviene il bambino. Non ha bagagli, vestiti o libri. Ulteriori aggiornamenti sul bambino potremo averli dopo aver rintracciato la famiglia

Oggi il ragazzo D. A. è stato valutato per lo stato nutrizionale da Paul con i seguenti riscontri: Peso corporeo – 36 kg Altezza: 160 cm BMI – 14.06
Osservazioni – sottopeso per l’età; Le condizioni generali sono buone. Esame obiettivo: nessuna anomalia rilevata.
Il ragazzo resterà in obbitu per un breve periodo fino a quando non si sarà riconciliato con il padre e la nonna tramite l’ufficiale governativo dei bambini.

Questa sera abbiamo presentato una denuncia all’ufficiale governativo distrettuale di Moyale per l’infanzia sul comportamento e il carattere di D. A. che è stato ammesso all’Obbbitu Village per ordine del tribunale. Il ragazzo è un “criminale radicale” che è cresciuto senza un’adeguata guida e supervisione dei genitori. Nei 4 giorni in cui è rimasto nel villaggio ha rubato dalla casa del padre, ha rotto una radio appartenente alla aiutante della casa madre. Ha minacciato di aggressioni ragazzi e ragazze; i bambini avevano paura di lui. Abbiamo raccolto informazioni che dicono che ha usato droghe e colla inalata. La sua permanenza in obbitu metterà a rischio l’armonia dei comportamenti dei nostri minori con le madri custodi. Non sarà facile per noi cambiare prima e presto il suo attuale comportamento. Dovrebbe essere un minore d’ammettere a una scuola specializzata dove il discepolo e la punizione siano gestite al modo migliore.
L’addetto governativo all’infanzia era d’accordo con noi e ci ha consigliato di consegnare, accompagnati da un testimone, il bambino al padre o alla nonna. Abbiamo portato il bambino dalla polizia chiedendo di fare da testimone e lo hanno preso in carico loro arrestandolo per ulteriori indagini per trovare suo padre o, in alternativa, per tornare in tribunale.

Il ragazzo è stato consegnato a suo padre, pastore di Sololo Makutano. Lo stesso è stato comunicato al responsabile dei minori e il caso è stato archiviato.
C’è stata una stretta collaborazione con il responsabile dei minori e il tribunale per la ricerca di supporto in caso di necessità. Da parte nostra saremo vigili, avremo una stretta supervisione e seguiremo questi bambini. Consiglieremo anche al responsabile dei minori di fare un controllo dei precedenti sui bambini che intende essere ammesso per obbitu bambini
Il Villaggio Obbitu è un centro di prevenzione e non di recupero. Non abbiamo personale specializzato per la gestione dei minori disagiati. Siamo disponibili alla collaborazione con un eventuale “Centro di recupero” governativo che venga realizzato nella nostra area.

today i was consulted by the children officer to rescue a child who was abandoned by mother and father. the child is from Sololo staying with the grandmother , according to the children officer he hurt the grandmother and was arrested and taken to court in moyale. the court ruled that he needs to be in a rescue centre . but due to no centre they requested us to take in the child until they reconcile the mother , 5he father and the child. i agreed and the child was brought in by the police this evening.
the child’s name is D. A., male and 12 years old residence sololo ramata. we shall try to find the exact village where the child hails from. the child doe snot have nay luggage, clothing or books. more update on the child after we trace the family

The boy will stay in obbitu for short period untill he will be reconciled with his father and grandmother through the children officer.

This is to bring to your knowledge that this evening we raised a complaint to the district children officer Moyale on the behaviour and character of D. A. who was admitted to Obbbitu through the court order. The boy is a radical criminal who has grown without proper parental guidance and supervision. In the 4 days he stayed in obbitu he stole from the father’s house, broke a radio belonging to his mother’s caretaker. he has threatened both boys and girls to fight, the children were scared of him.
We have information that he has used drugs and inhaled glue. His continued stay at obbitu will be a risk to the behaviour of our children harmony among the mother caretakers. it will not be easy for us to change his current behaviour any sooner. He should be a child to be admitted to an approved school where stricter disciple and punishment is more severe.
The children officer was in agreement with us and advised us to hand over the child to the father or grandmother accompanied with a witness. We took the child to the police for witness and they took him in for further processing to find his father or alternatively back to court.

The boy was handed over to his father, pastor of Sololo Makutano. The same was communicated to the child manager and the case was closed.
There has been close cooperation with the child manager and the court to seek support when needed. For our part, we will be vigilant, have close supervision and will follow these children. We will also advise the child manager to do a background check on any children he intends to be admitted to for obitu children
The Obbitu Village is a prevention and not a recovery center. We do not have specialized personnel for the management of disadvantaged minors. We are available to collaborate with any government “recovery center” in our area.
