Il toro, di proprietà di Cipad, che vive nel Villaggio Obbitu è un toro di razza borana. Ha mantenuto il peso corporeo nonostante la devastante siccità ed è ancora sul mercato per gli acquirenti interessati, poiché nessuno fino ad ora ha offerto un buon prezzo. Dopo le piogge potrà essere utilizzato per la riproduzione.
Per molte ragioni è comprensibile che non vi sia una giusta richiesta sul mercato ora:
- è difficile riuscire a mantenerlo durante la siccità;
- vi è la mancanza di mucche a causa della moria di bestiame in corso;
- gli animali al momento non sono in condizioni fisiche per sostenere una gravidanza;
- è impossibile per la gente, che riesce a nutrirsi solo sporadicamente, occuparsi di gestire la ricostituzione delle mandrie;…
Cipad:
- non deve certo vendere il toro ora.
- deve continuare a curarlo e a mantenerlo in forma, così da poter aiutare chi, al ritorno delle piogge, non sarà più in grado di poter ripartire a ricostituire la propria mandria.
- potrà far usare il toro per la riproduzione sia in forma gratuita così come a pagamento, per chi potrà permetterselo.
- dovrà ricostituire una sua mandria presso il suo Villaggio Obbitu così da poter successivamente offrire ai più bisognosi di sostegno i primi animali per le nuove mandrie.
