Come va il progetto Sololo ? Molto bene, si dimostra efficace e vincente.
Come sta la popolazione di Sololo ? Molto male come dimostrano in continuazione con i loro spots le grandi organizzazioni umanitarie che operano nel corno d’africa
Sta piovendo ? Si, sta piovendo con la forza torrenziale da riempire i bacini di raccolta
Le mandrie ? Sono molto poche e povere di bestiame per la estesa moria che c’è stata
Prezzi ? Sono altissimi sia per il cibo che per il poco bestiame commercializzato
Potere di acquisto della popolazione ? Molto basso per l’aumento dell’inflazione e la crescita dei prezzi di acquisto degli animali, oltre alla carenza di cibo offerto al mercato poiché non è più conveniente trasportarlo dal sud del paese per una popolazione che non è più in grado di acquistarlo
Cosa occorre in modo prioritario ? Cibo e animali da immettere nell’economia locale che stenta a riprendersi
Perché questa volta la ripresa è difficile e lenta ? Perché una mandria per ricostituirsi alle stesse condizioni che precedono la carestia, necessita in media di una decina di anni. Le ultime 5 carestie si sono susseguite con un intervallo medio inferiore a 6 anni; quindi alle mandrie è mancato il tempo per ricostituirsi e così dopo ogni siccità gli animali erano numericamente sempre di meno, fino ad ora che sono divenuti praticamente insufficienti.
Quale soluzione suggerisce? Finanziare la ricostruzione delle case tradizionali distrutte dalla pioggia. Questo lavoro è la popolazione stessa in grado di farlo e i soldi guadagnati di certo andrebbero all’acquisto di animali e cibo. Dando lavoro per aiutarli a risolvere il problema abitazione, si alimenta il mercato locale favorendone la ripresa e si sostiene indirettamente anche il commercio degli animali per la ricostituzione delle mandrie.
La popolazione quali alternative di sopravvivenza ha? La piccola agricoltura che ognuno sta tentando di praticare nel proprio orticello vicino alla capanna. La sussistenza che ne deriva è molto scarsa e limitata al solo periodo delle piogge, poiché poi la scarsa acqua che si riesce a raccogliere servirà solo per vivere
Cosa può fare Cipad per la popolazione ? Con il suo Progetto Sololo Cipad ha affrancato dalla povertà estrema i più poveri della popolazione. Paradossalmente loro, gli ultimi, sono stati tra quelli che hanno potuto affrontare e superare nel migliore dei modi la carestia.
Perché Cipad non può agire nello stesso modo prendendo in carico chi è caduto nella povertà estrema per via della carestia in corso ? Cipad sarebbe ben felice di farlo; avrebbe l’organizzazione in grado di raddoppiare il numero delle persone che assiste ora e senza dover incrementare il proprio personale e gli attuali costi gestionali.
Perché non lo fa ? Cipad non riceve aiuti sufficienti per poterlo fare; riesce a fatica a continuare ad assistere chi ha già in carico.
Servirebbero grandi cifre ? Assolutamente no ! Questo è ciò che fa più male a noi operatori di Cipad; assistere impotenti dove ben sapremmo cosa fare, come fare e con costi relativamente bassi. Briciole piccolissime rispetto ai costi di una guerra. Poco rispetto ai costi organizzativi delle grandi organizzazioni umanitarie che debbono affrontare centinaia di migliaia di persone … Con 250 euro si può sponsorizzare una persona per un intero anno. (per attivare un SaD)
Con relativamente poco, siamo in grado di fare quanto basta per cambiare la vita dei più poveri tra i poveri
Un messaggio da mandare a chi potrebbe ascoltarvi ? Vi preghiamo di crederci e darci fiducia.
Se ci credete, sarete coautori di qualcosa di umanamente indescrivibile; se non ci credete, purtroppo per noi non cambia molto, la differenza la misurerà chi non può farcela da solo.
Dove finiscono i nostri soldi ? Cipad risponde che dipende solo da te il volerlo verificare. Cipad ti da anche l’opportunità di fare arrivare a chi vive a Sololo, e che scegli tu, ciò che vuoi tu. Ecco come fare.

Why is the recovery difficult and slow this time? Because a herd needs on average about ten years to rebuild under the same conditions that preceded the famine. The last 5 famines followed one another with an average interval of less than 6 years; therefore the herds lacked time to reconstitute and so after each drought the animals were numerically fewer and fewer, until now they have become practically insufficient.
What solution do you suggest? Financing the reconstruction of traditional houses destroyed by the rain. The population itself is capable of doing this work and the money earned would certainly go towards the purchase of animals and food. By providing work to help them solve the housing problem, the local market is fed, encouraging its recovery and the trade in animals for the reconstitution of the herds is also indirectly supported.
What survival options does the population have? The small farming that everyone is trying to practice in their own little garden near the hut. The resulting subsistence is very scarce and limited only to the rainy period, since then the little water that can be collected will only be used for living
What can Cipad do for the population? With his Sololo Project Cipad has freed the poorest of the population from extreme poverty. Paradoxically they, the last, were among those who were able to face and overcome the famine in the best possible way.
Why can’t Cipad act in the same way by taking care of those who have fallen into extreme poverty due to the ongoing famine? Cipad would be happy to do so; the organization would be able to double the number of people it assists now and without having to increase its staff and current management costs.
Why doesn’t he do it? Cipad does not receive sufficient aid to be able to do this; he can hardly continue to assist those he already has in his care.
