Ne siamo tutti orgogliosi? Sicuramente SI!

Nata nel 1970 … è arrivata a Sololo nel 2000 quando, a Nairobi, fu comprata da un capo masai. Dissero che avrebbe avuto non più di altri 5 anni di vita; con noi ad oggi ne ha già passati 21.
Spartana, ha tutto l’essenziale di ciò che è indispensabile per viaggiare “fuori strada”.
Allora fu ristrutturata in modo conservativo, affinché potesse operare al meglio delle sue possibilità in queste aride terre. Oggi è ancora a disposizione degli operatori del “Progetto-Sololo”.
A nostro parere, questa macchina è la prova provata che è l’ultimo modello di ciò che può ancora essere chiamato “fuoristrada”, concepito per lavorare in sicurezza in posti remoti come questi.
Non è un “tutte strade”, come lo sono gli odierni confortevoli “macchinoni”.
Con una manutenzione semplicissima e compatibile con le risorse locali, garantisce sempre di tornare a casa; magari lentamente, ma lo ha sempre fatto.
La nostra si è guadagnata sul campo, il nome borana di “MZEEKOBE”, che significa: “Vecchia Tartaruga”. La Tartaruga è un animale corazzato, coraggioso, intelligente, seppur lento, neppure teme i serpenti.
“MZEEKOBE” sa che se cedesse definitivamente … il “Progetto-Sololo” non avrebbe le possibilità economiche per procurare una sostituzione.
Per lei non ci sarà mai un pensionamento; se non forzato.

“MZEEKOBE” knows that if he gave up definitively… the “Progetto-Sololo” would not have the financial means to get a replacement.
There will never be a retirement for her; if not forced.
